Using Tapscope

One window: devices and pages on the left, Chrome DevTools or React DevTools on the right, and a few tools in the toolbar.

The window

Tapscope window with the live screencast of a page in the iPhone Simulator next to Chrome DevTools; the sidebar lists a simulator, an Android emulator, Chrome and Node.js

The sidebar lists everything Tapscope can reach, grouped into iOS Devices, Simulators, Android and Network Targets. Under each device you see its apps (Safari, Chrome or your own app) and their pages. A badge shows the type: Page, WebView, Service Worker, Node.js or Other. Select a page to open it on the right.

When something is in the way – a locked iPhone, a missing trust confirmation, an Android device that has not allowed USB debugging – the sidebar shows the state in place of the pages. The tooltip explains it, and How do I fix this? opens the matching section of the platform guide.

At the bottom, the sidebar shows the address of the CDP endpoint (normally 127.0.0.1:9222) and, on the Free plan, the remaining time of the current session or the free sessions left today.

ControlWhat it does
DevTools / ReactSwitches between the Chrome DevTools and the React DevTools of the page. Both stay connected.
Raw WebKit ConsoleOpens a window for raw WebKit Inspector messages (iOS pages only).
ScreencastShows a live preview of the page next to the panels, see Screencast.

  • Reload, Bring to Front and Close Tab.
  • Open New Tab… in the same browser (simulator, Android, network targets).
  • Copy URL and Copy CDP URL.
  • Open Raw WebKit Console for iOS pages.

For network targets the sidebar also offers Add Network Target (the + button) and Remove Network Target.

Settings

  • Agents: the CDP endpoint and the Chrome DevTools MCP setup for Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop and other MCP clients, ready to copy. See Coding agents.
  • License: your plan, the free time left today and the license key. See Plans and billing.
  • General: install the tapscope command line tool.

When a page does not answer

Pages on a locked device or in a background tab do not answer the debugger. If a page stays silent for five seconds, Tapscope shows a notice above the DevTools and the preview with the steps that usually help and a Reconnect button. The details are in the iPhone & iPad guide.

Raw WebKit console

For protocol work on iOS, the raw console sends JSON messages of the WebKit Inspector Protocol to the selected page and shows every reply and event. It shares the connection with the DevTools, so you can use both at the same time. Open it from the toolbar, the context menu or with ⌥⌘K.

Chat with Tapscope

The chat loads only after you choose “Start chat”. Your IP address, browser data and messages are then sent to tawk.to. The service may set cookies and process data in the United States.
