iOS Simulator
Tapscope finds booted simulators through Xcode’s command line tools and connects to Safari and inspectable WebViews inside them. No device or cable needed.

Tapscope needs Xcode and its simctl tool to list and control simulators.
- Install Xcode from the Mac App Store and open it once so it can finish installing its components.
- Add an iOS simulator runtime under Xcode › Settings › Components if none is installed.
- If you have more than one Xcode, select the right one with the first command below.
- Check with xcrun simctl help. Tapscope picks the change up on its own.
sudo xcode-select -s /Applications/Xcode.app
xcrun simctl helpNo simulator running
Shown in Tapscope No Booted Simulator
Tapscope shows simulators only while they are booted.
- Start one from Xcode (Open Developer Tool › Simulator) or list your simulators and boot one from Terminal.
- Open Safari in the simulator. The tabs appear in the Tapscope sidebar.
xcrun simctl list devices available

The simulator is running, but its Web Inspector service did not answer.
- Wait a few seconds after booting; the service starts with the simulator.
- Quit Safari in the simulator with the command below and open it again.
- Still nothing: shut the simulator down and boot it again.
- WebViews in your own app need isInspectable, just like on a device.
xcrun simctl terminate booted com.apple.mobilesafariStill stuck?
Run the diagnosis in Terminal. It checks every connection Tapscope needs and prints the next step for each problem.
